Heavy red, 1924

Kandinsky began teaching at the State Bauhaus in 1922. During this time he deals with form theory and color theory. For him, the red color had great, almost purposeful power and, depending on the proportions of the mixture, very different effects (Wassily Kandinsky: About the Spiritual in Art, Bern: Benteli Verlag, 1973, 10th edition, p. 99). Geometric shapes such as the floating circles and the angular surfaces are typical of his time at the Bauhaus.
